The SF6 gas-insulated metal-clad switchgear (GIS) is designed based on SF6 generator circuit breakers (GCB). It includes various components such as the circuit breaker, disconnecting switch, earthing switch, transformers, and surge arresters, all housed in a metal enclosure. SF6 gas is used for its superior insulation and arc-extinguishing properties, allowing for compact assembly and protection from external environmental factors. GIS offers safe, reliable operation with minimal maintenance, and occupies only about 10% of the space required by traditional AIS substations. It is widely used in industries such as power grids, petrochemicals, metallurgy, data centers, airports, and subways.
